Making Friends is one of the most essential parts of Animal Crossing. Mostly everything you need to progress through the game requires players to interact with animal friends; raise their level, host them at your camp, complete requests, and collect items.

Along the way you will meet new animals and unlock new furniture. This guide will help you quickly progress through the game and reach level 40 in no time.

Everything is connected in some way or another. To level up, you have to increase your relationship level with animals, but eventually your relationship levels will be so high it will take sometime to increase it. In turn, that will make the game seem a little boring especially if you are leveling up the same animals.

So what you want to do is to immediately level up new animals you meet since new animal friends are easy to level up and in turn that will increase your player level and with every player level gained you unlock a new animal to be friends with and the cycle repeats.

Hosted animals will level up more quickly as it opens opportunities for them to regularly offer gifts and ask for requests. They will ask for requests every 1-2 hours and you may speak to them every 30 minutes.

You may only have up to 8 animals hosted at your camp and you may switch hosted animals by tapping on the animal icon in the drop down menu. It should be right below the “Arrange” option. So make sure you have your favorite animals hanging around your camp.

The reason why hosted animals level up more quickly is because they don’t go through the usual animal rotation that the rest of the animals go through every 3 hours.

When you’ve unlocked over 20 animals, the chances of your favorite animal to spawn in one of the 4 areas is very slim and you could be waiting a long time before they actually do spawn. So with this in mind, it's safe to say that hosting animals is the fastest way to level up specific animals without spending so much on Calling Cards and Request Tickets.

The only downside is that you have to constantly be checking up on the animals(talk to them and complete requests) periodically.

Lastly for hosted animals, always have an amenity upgraded. The time management people will probably agree with this as well. As a general rule, you should always have an amenity upgraded. The logic behind this is because:

1. They take long to upgrade.
2. They increase the level cap on animals
3. They unlock new amenities.
4. They provide +5 relationship points to any hosted animals when the upgrade is completed.
5. The higher level amenities look awesome.

So from there you can see that there are several benefits to constantly having you amenities upgraded.

By now you should already know and understand that leveling up in Animal Crossing involves doing everything in a harmonic pattern and mostly everything you do in the game is connected to each other in an important way.

Basically, players must make new friends and level up constantly each day. At player level 20 and above it gets harder and slower to level up. Likewise, when animals reach level 7 it becomes a lot harder to get them to the next level. You should be upgrading your amenities constantly as well and this will consume a lot of crafting materials so you should also be completing animal requests. At the same time this will consume a lot of collectible items like fruits and bugs, luckily, whenever you visit one of the surrounding areas you should be able to collect some of those items and complete requests while you are there.

Basically this is how it looks like on a daily routine:

1. Every Hour: Speak to and complete requests for hosted animals.
2. Every 3 Hour Rotation: Go to all 4 areas and complete requests for animals in that area.
3. Go to all 4 areas and collect items (bugs, fruits, fish).

Every time you complete a request from an animal friend they will reward you with crafting materials. These materials can be used to upgrade your amenities or further personalize your camp by crafting furniture.

At certain relationship levels, animals will reward you with their special items. You can then craft them and place them around your camp and they will ask you to speak to them.

Additionally, when an animal reaches level 20, they will give you a photo of themselves for you to remember them by. At this point, you won’t have to host that animal at your camp anymore and you may hang up the photos around your camp to show other players how many animals you’ve made happy while they stayed at your camp!

• Complete all Requests and collect items all the time.
• Make sure you’re using your request tickets and calling cards where it matters. Don’t let them stockpile because not using them would be a bigger waste.
• At player level 20 you should be leveling up at least once a day. If you have the time or if you can manage logging into the game every 3 hours during the rotations, you should be able to level up twice a day.
• Every time your player level increases, make sure you make friends with the new animal you will unlock. Quickly raise their relationship level to 3 to gain easy experience for your player level; the new animal will always appear at the next rotation after you’ve levelled up. If you miss that window, it will be hard for you find that animal again due to the randomness of animal spawns every 3 hours.
• Host your favorite animals and they will level up a lot quicker. Always upgrade your amenities because they have a load of benefits for your camp and hosted animals.

Follow these guidelines and you should be reaching level 30 and above in no time! It took me only a week and a half when I thought of this guide.
