Unofficial information mentioned on this page since the game is not even released. We will update this once we got a confirmed information!

Animal Crossing mobile app is the first mobile game from the Animal Crossing franchise developed by Nintendo and DeNA. Any detail of the game has not been unveiled yet, but it might be optimized for game play on a smartphone as Nintendo and DeNA did for Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes.

What can be assumed?

Resident or Mayor?

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the fourth Animal crossing game released in 2012, the player's character takes the role of mayor and that allows him/her to perform public works projects and issue town ordinance unlike the three other Animal Crossing games. For example, as mayor, the player can build bridges in their town.

New villagers or villagers from the previous games?

In a new Animal Crossing game, brand new villagers and items are added. For example, Animal Crossing: New Leaf is the first game that Isabelle, the mayor's assistant, appears.

New activities?

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, new activities, such as diving and visiting other player's town are added. The latest game update allows you to visit animal campers in their RV and purchase furniture from them. We are expecting these activities will be added in the mobile version.

DLC?

There is a monthly distribution of DLC in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. These in-game items are coming from Nintendo servers. You can obtain these items from your post office. Hopefully, Nintendo will still release monthly DLC in the mobile version similar to the 3DS game.

In-App Purchases?

In the Animal Crossing: New Leaf in Nintendo 3DS, there is no in-app purchase. We are assuming that the mobile version will have an in-app purchase option since the game will be free-to-start. Probably additional storage space or Bells might be included in the option but we are still not sure since the game still not yet released.

Amiibo Support?

Amiibo is supported in the latest game update of Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Hopefully, Nintendo will include support for Amiibo in the mobile version of the game since the majority of the mobile phones now days are NFC-ready.

Social Media in the game?

As we all know, Animal Crossing is also a good multiplayer game. If Nintendo will add an option to link a player's Facebook or Twitter's account in the game, it would be easier to add friends in the game. It would be easier for the player's to complete task like gathering signature and turnip trading. One thing for sure is Nintendo and DeNA will use either Google Account or Nintendo Account.
