The axe, fishing rod, net, shovel, slingshot, watering can, and wetsuit are necessary tools for player. The majority of them can be purchased from Nookling Junction or from the Gardening Store. Players use those tools to get items to sell and collect.
The axe is used to cut down trees. Axes are not durable except for gold ones. You can use the gold version to crush rocks.
Fishing rod is used to fish along the beach, small ponds and river.
Catch bugs using this tool. During Festivale, you'll use this to catch floating feathers. During the Bug-Off you'll use it to catch bugs.
A shovel is used to dig fossils, to plant saplings, and remove stumps.
To shoot down floating presents in the sky, a slingshot is needed.
A watering can is used to grow and water flowers. Even once flowers are wilted, you can get revive them by watering them the same day they wilt.
A wet suit is used to dive into the sea to catch water-faring creatures. A variety of colors is available.
