Will the characters carry-over from other installations of the game?
Will the characters be pre-existing from other games or will a whole new range of characters be created for the mobile release?

All of the characters in the game are taken from the previous Animal Crossing games; however, the line up is linear so you can't choose which character will appear in your game. You can select which one will stay in your camp though.

I seem it cannot be as they did not mention cross-play in the live presentation.
